JM had it done in 3 days and shipped it back to me for free! If anyone is interested, send me a private message and I'll let you know how to contact them. I was going to send it to California, but everywhere there had a 3-4 week turn around times. No more bottoming and still soaked up the small stuff easily. I raced my bike for the first time since having the suspension re-valved and it is awesome. This helped quite a bit to calm the front end at high speed and did not adversely affect the turning. I dropped the forks down so that point where the upper tube and bottom of the fork cap meet is level with the top of the triple clamps. I'd recommend staying with the 49, a 50 would rev out too fast and a 48 would be too much of a load on the engine in the sand.

My bike came with a 49 tooth rear sprocket. It revs about as far as it did before, but with more power (the long silencer might make even more difference in the top). The pipe defintely thickens up the top-end, but does the most for the midrange. The previous owner told me he jetted the bike rich. Like others have said, the adreneline factor of the 2-stroke is killer. I am VERY happy with the power of the bike, really incredible when compared to my other bike, a 400cc DRZ 4-stroke. I think that the longer silencer would be best for you in the dunes, since you mainly need top-end (short silencer=more bark in the low-end). I have a 2002 RM250 with FMF Fatty pipe and silencer.

I saw a guy this weekend with a PC pipe and the regular PC silencer and it sounded stock. I think the Bills setup is a shorty, too.

Yeah, the shorty does make the bike quite a bit louder. Too bad in a few years, they might not be around anymore :( (because of the Kawisaki/Suzuki merger). I always wanted another Suzuki, but it looked like I was going to have to get a Honda until I started reading the reviews of the 02! Suzuki has finally been moving in the right direction for the past couple of years and this bike is awesome. I had a '92 RM125 for a while and then a couple Hondas before I went to school. Yeah, I just graduated college and had been dying to get a new MX bike. I know that my bike could be jetted a little cleaner on the very bottom, but it's good enough for MX and the difference is still amazing. The PC pipe definitely gets on the pipe much sooner. I went with PC just because of prior experience, I knew that it would fit perfectly and the quality would be outstanding. I have not ridden an RM with a Bill's pipe, but Dirt Rider said that the Bill's and PC pipes were almost identical, performance wise and were the two best choices for the RM(not that I believe everything I read in mags). Yeah, I almost got a Bills pipe just to be different.
